Get Ready, Be Safe, Stay Healthy: A Holistic Approach to Community Resilience

Boston is preparing...Are you? During this session, attendees learned the core concepts and key messages of the Boston Public Health Commission's Get Ready, Be Safe, Stay Healthy community preparedness program. Presenters discussed best practices for implementing this program and shared content and resources that have been developed.

Recovery Planning for Public Health and Healthcare: Turning Guidance into Actionable Plans

From the first of a disaster response, we need to take steps to ensure that we can “build back better.” This session provided an overview of the recovery planning process, and highlighted key planning activities for public health and healthcare organizations. Session attendees gained access to the recovery planning guidance and tools.

Stop the Bleed Training Program for Non-Healthcare Professionals in a Professional Environment

This 90-minute course prepared non-medical personnel in the management of severe bleeding. Students will be able to recognize severe bleeding, initiate a 9-1-1 response, and practice bleeding control techniques including both commercial and improvised tourniquets. Attendees gained access to an instructor guide and training materials.

Strengthening Community Support Systems by Enhancing Continuity of Operations for Community-Based Organizations

When emergencies happen, residents turn to the community-based organizations (CBO) they already depend on for resources and information. This session discussed a project in Boston where public sector partners worked with CBOs to provide continuity of operations training and technical assistance. Session attendees gained access to the training curriculum.
