The Voices of Experience Conference series is a one-day conference in Massachusetts designed to prepare healthcare industry leaders to make knowledgeable decisions under difficult circumstances at critical times. Nationally recognized experts have spoken at the previous conference about the impacts of failed infrastructure and leadership during disasters. View presentations from the 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011 conferences or view videos of past speakers.
The Voices of Experience Conference series encourages senior leadership to learn about managing institutions and making policy decisions before, during and after a crisis. Attendees can look forward to an interactive conference spent with colleagues in hospital management and disaster response from around the region. Because an effective disaster response requires strong collaboration between institutions, this conference will provide numerous opportunities for networking and provide information on how hospitals can partner with other stakeholders.
This conference is supported by funds provided through the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Hospital Preparedness Program, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and 39 hospitals in Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Participating hospitals from Regions 2, 4AB and 5 include: Athol Memorial Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess – Milton, Beth Israel Deaconess – Needham, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth, Brockton Hospital, Cambridge Hospital, Cape Cod Hospital, Charlton Memorial Hospital, Clinton Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Falmouth Hospital, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Harrington Memorial Hospital, HealthAlliance Hospital (Leominster Campus), Heywood Hospital, Marlborough Hospital, Martha's Vineyard Hospital, MetroWest Medical Center (Framingham), MetroWest Medical Center (Natick), Milford Regional Medical Center, Morton Hospital, Mount Auburn Hospital, Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Norwood Hospital, Quincy Medical Center, Saint Vincent Hospital, Somerville Hospital, South Shore Hospital, St. Anne's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Tobey Hospital, UMass Memorial Medical Memorial Campus, UMass Memorial Medical University Campus, Whidden Memorial Hospital and Winchester Hospital.
The event in 2014, Voices of Experience: Recovering after Disaster featured first-hand accounts of how healthcare facilities and communities recovered following a disaster, be it from Mother Nature or man-made. Often referred to as the “new normal,” recovering from a disaster while managing everyday operations is a daunting task and increasingly burdensome to our healthcare systems.
