This course provides Boston Medical Reserve Corps volunteers with the information and skills they need to participate in the Boston Athletic Association Injured Runner Tracking Team (IRT) in support of the 2021 Boston Marathon, held on October 11. The course includes briefing to prepare volunteers with marathon-specific guidelines and procedures for serving on the IRT team.
Emergency Tracking is conducted in the City of Boston to support incident management, situational awareness, family reunification, and overall patient accountability during designated emergency incidents. This emergency tracking system - which uses barcodes, hand scanners, and a web application - can be used to track patients in the event of a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), at a mass dispensing clinic activation, in an evacuation and sheltering scenario, or a special event like the Boston Marathon.
