Learn what it means to be a Boston MRC member!

Course Description

Orientation is the first step to becoming a member of the Boston MRC and will prepare you to volunteer in an emergency or at a special event such as the Boston Marathon. The course covers the important role of Boston MRC members, when and how members are activated, potential functions during an activation, and how to prepare yourself and your family for an emergency. Orientation is a pre-requisite for all other Boston MRC trainings, and is required to volunteer at emergencies or special events.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants should be able to:

Summarize the purpose of the Boston MRC.
Recognize the possible roles that Boston MRC members may perform.
Describe the steps to take in response to a Boston MRC emergency notification.
Recognize how to manage protected health information during normal and emergency operations.
Describe the Incident Command System (ICS) how it applies to the role of an MRC member.
Identify key measures to take at home to prepare for a potential emergency.

Boston MRC Orientation 10/23/2023

This course will provide an initial overview and orientation to the Boston Medical Reserve Corps. You'll learn about the roles and responsibilities of Boston MRC volunteers, as well as personal preparedness tips to ensure their own readiness in case of an emergency.
