Full Course Description

In this course, you will learn how to help prevent overdoses and what to do when someone experiences an opioid overdose.

We'll answer the following important questions:

What are opioids?
What does it mean to overdose?
What are the risk factors for opioid overdose?
What should I do if someone overdoses?
What is naloxone, and how would I use it?

This course also includes two optional modules:

Emerging Trends in the Boston Drug Supply: This module describes current emerging trends in the local drug supply and their implications for overdose response.
Overdose Prevention for Organizations: Geared towards the leaders and employees of organizations (including businesses and nonprofits), this module describes how organizations are impacted by opioid use and overdose. It also summarizes practical strategies for reducing opioid overdoses in organizational settings.

Course Logistics

Length of course	1 hour (core module only), 1 hour and 40 minutes (core module and optional modules)

Target Audience:

This course is intended for anyone interested in learning about recognizing and responding to an opioid overdose. In addition to individuals, this course is relevant to businesses, treatment programs, and other social service agencies as a tool for overdose prevention and emergency preparedness.

At this time, no accreditation is offered upon completion of this course.

Certificates:

In order to receive a Certificate of Completion, you must create an account, register for this course as a student, and complete the final assessment with a minimum grade of 70%.
